In Memory

On Christmas Eve on of our most avid readers, Sgt. Myla L. Maravillosa, 24, of Wahiawa, died of injuries sustained in Al Hawijah, Iraq, when her Humvee was attacked by enemy forces using rocket-propelled grenades. She was pursuing a religious vocation and had hopes of that after her tour of duty. Let us pause a moment and offer a prayer for her.

I am shocked that Myla passed away. I chatted with her a day or two before she died. I knew of her desire to become a pauline sister. I pray for her soul and my heart reaches out to her family. Br. Gabriel Pestao, SJ

Because of her heart's desire, she
is a Bride of Our Lord and Savior as much as any of us who have had the privilege of taking vows. I know that she is in the arms of her beloved Jesus. She is in my prayers.

My heart ached when I read this piece. Our son Dennis, 21, is soon go be going to Iraq. He studied and discerened a vocation for seven years and entered te Army Reserve when he came home, as he wanted to serve as his dad had. I will keep Myla in my prayers and ask that all of you keep Dennis, and all those serving, in yours.
    Thank you. Judy Capistrant
